I actually loved it more than PoE2 which sported prettier graphics and fully voiced shenanigans but that are not necessarily the most sought for features of BG-like afficionados (it actually pushed me to buy Kingmaker over PoE2 since my PC could not run PoE2 - ended up playing it on console later).
Pacing at times was so so, lore dumps could be excessive but I don't dislike wall of texts. Personally LOVED PoE1, catered to my liking with the deep, long, at times philosophical story with some serviceable combat engine and fresh feeling classes (chants, cipher.). sequel arriving in a "revived" market while people realized that first gane was just "quite good". Main factor would be: super hyped revival of the BG-like genre vs.
